I agree, terminating the road in hazel grove can only increase traffic, commuters in the surrounding areas will have to drive through hazel grove to access it, potentially grid locking areas like the fiveways.

I think it will improve the congestion. The idea of this route is to take traffic from Buxton, New Mills, Disley, Marple etc and route it around HG. The entry point is supposed to be just above Simpsons going over to Brookside then Chester Road (Woodford one) and linking to the A555.
The extra traffic may come from people living in the Grove and surrounding are heading to the entry points at High Lane or the Fiveways rather than going via Bramhall/Cheadle or Stockport for the motorway.
I always thought it was barmy not to continue the A555 at Handforth all the way to the airport given how little it was going to cost
