Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous! Best pub meal we've had in years. Decor beautiful. Food sublime. Service on point. Just try it. Couple of the dessert specials were made by Luis from The Great British Bake-off...I tried his chocolate brownie - OMG...I think I actually squeaked out loud with the shear gorgeousness of it!

Norfolk Arms - Lunch - Jan 2015 Rating: 10/10
Review for Norfolk Arms

OMG! It was GORGEOUS! Just had one of the best pub lunches EVER! Rib eye steak sandwich and the best chunky chips in the world - FACT! Even the salad on the side was gorgeous and that's saying something - who the hell raves about a side salad? That's testimony to how lovely it was! If you get the chance - go!

Cape Cod - Nov 2014 Rating: 1/10
Review for Cape Cod Fish Bar
By Fi_nix on 30th November 2014

For the second time in 2 months, I walked out. I loved this chippy at first but I'm giving up on it now. Waited around for ages to be served (at the counter). Only one lady cooking and one young man serving. It was painfully slow. I'm happy to wait for food to be freshly cooked but not so happy standing around, waiting to be acknowledged! The lady cooking was putting the hot food in the food stores and closing the doors on her side but the young fella serving left the f...

Ram’s Head, Disley, July 2014 Rating: 8/10
Review for The Rams Head
By Fi_nix on 1st August 2014

Good decor, mostly good service. Clean loo, fairly good food. Went for family lunch after a walk. Dog was allowed in and welcomed with his own water dish and dog biscuit...the place got my approval right there and then! Food was good on the whole but the vegetables were tired and sad! So many eateries get vegetables wrong. The service was, on the whole, attentive and friendly. We did have one dolly-dipstick who forgot all about us but hey, everyone allowed an off-day! ...

Three Bears - June 2014 Rating: 9/10
Review for Three Bears

Good service. Good food. Good value. Limited choices. Carvery was very good. Varied meats, well cooked veg, three types of gravy/sauce. Amazing Yorkshire puddings! Chef who knew what he was talking about and was great fun whilst serving! (I've noticed a lot of carveries are served by right grumpy gits - no idea why!) My friend had the salad platter - choose meat and potatoes from carvery then add your own salad. It was fresh and she said it was delicious but she would h...

The ’new’ Fiveways... Rating: 7/10
Review for The Fiveways
By Fi_nix on 21st March 2014

Finally gave it a try after so many friends had raved about it. The refurb is, in my opinion, superb. Love it, love it, love it. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was...well, it was alright. Look, I don't want to whinge on and put people off going but the food was pretty average tonight. The nacho sharing starters were odd. Bit like flat, slightly soggy pastry and not what I expect when I order nachos. The sirloin was good enough but I can do 'good enough...

Ring O’ Bells - Marple Rating: 9/10
Review for Ring o’ Bells

Blimey, bit of a surprise treat this turned out to be! Food was excellent, service was efficient, friendly and accommodating. Pub was that lovely type of oldie-worldie proper pubness! Loos were clean but a bit chilly but so what? Honestly, give this little pub a try if you like properly cooked food and good service. Even my mother-in-law, the Queen of fussiness when it comes to how vegetables should be cooked and presented, enjoyed this place! Price-wise it was very r...

Tom Yam thai - Poynton Rating: 8/10
Review for Tom Yam
By Fi_nix on 28th January 2014

The restaurant itself is beautifully done. The service is friendly and helpful. The loo's are spotless. The kitchen is open to the main dining area which always give you a bit of confidence because it feels like they're not hiding an e-coli farm out the back! The food was lovely, really lovely BUT there wasn't loads of it for what you paid. It was fairly pricey, I thought, for what you actually got! To give an example, I had a king prawn dish for my main course. Absolutel...

Review for The Butley Ash
By Fi_nix on 16th September 2013

Love this place. Used to use it for business lunches years ago and not been in for so long, it must have changed hands at least a couple of times! It's now a Chef & Brewer pub so pretty standard menu BUT that's not a criticism! Place itself is beautiful, almost romantic. The service was cheerful and prompt. The food was standard pub grub but it was really nice - well cooked and presented. Reasonable value for money too. I'll be going again - loved it. Family welcome but ...

Review for George & Dragon
By Fi_nix on 25th August 2013

Called in for lunch today. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I liked them very much. The inside seemed OK. Didn't pay it too much attention as we sat in the beer garden in the sunshine. The beer garden looked a bit tired to be honest. The car park around it was strewn with litter too. Wouldn't take much to smarten it up and it would really help if they did. The food was pretty standard. Chips were good (always a tick in the box for me!). The curry was probably ...
