Lets start again and forget trivial disagreements.
I have long thought that the migration problem, as perceived, is not really about EU migrants but about non EU migrants. I used to drive through Longsight every day and saw a change in attitude, dress, and behaviour. But that is not what we are talking about. We already control non EU migration through our own points based system. My question is why we get so upset about EU migration. Just this month, HMRC has produce an analysis of the tax and benefit details of EU migrants in 2013-2014. The figures are Tax and NI paid: £3.11B, tax credits and child benefits claimed £560M, net gain to the exchequer £2.55B. Why are we getting so worked up up about Poles, Germans, Latvians, Austrians, Swiss, Hungarians, Romanians, Czechs, Spanish, Portugese etc coming here to do jobs Brits will not do? I find it puzzling.
