Started work at 14, i'm 58 next week, we can't all do the same job all our lives.
Waste of money is quantative, you can have aesthetically pleasing road finishes with other products that don't cost the earth and stand the test of time, or even the test of 40ft triple axle artics scrubbing their tyres as they turn round the pretty block paving roundabouts.
There was a similar project in Oxford in the early 80s, it lasted about 2yrs, they replaced the coloured setts with over sized granite setts that cost about the same, they were dug up in 2002 when they changed the road system and built the DNA research unit, at the time the road still looked and performed as well as when it was first laid.
I really hope my doubts are unfounded and the junction does stand the test of time, but!!!!!!
