The good news for the residents around Darley Road is that according to these reports, 25,000 vehicles passing and potentially stopping every day, only generates 5-10dB of extra noise and any serious air pollution is restricted to within the road boundary. It's a magic road!

Thing is with noise though 6db increase is actually a doubling of perceived volume!
So 5-10db is actually quite a lot!

As for the pollution, in all honesty unless the new road drives increased car sales or encourages people to travel in their cars more, it shouldn't really increase overall pollution, it'll just move some of it.

The workers have fenced all the field up near me today, straight away I feel like I'm gonna get boxed in with the a6 at the front and the new section of the a6 being built behind me!
I really hope they stand by they're wors they told me that the current a6 will be shut off to general traffic as if not I'm absolutely screwed being sandwiched by two main rd's never mind just one at the back of my house like many of you guys😕
