Hi moto3

I will look into this now! I've not been to the site for a couple of weeks. If we cannot figure out who's they are we will drop a line to SMBC as its no good for anyone seeing stuff which does not have to be there.

I am away next week, so may be a bit slower responding but will see what I can do before then.

Thanks

Richard.

I can't believe that Snapes battled for so long with the council to get the go-ahead and now the site has just been left dormant. But I'm not at all surprised though. It seems that everything that ever gets built in the Grove follows the same frustrating process - take ASDA how long did that eventually take - years. It does make me wonder though if Snapes are just trying to get their own back by dragging their feet because of all the delays that the council cost them. Add it to the already long list of eyesores. Perhaps Oliver might be able to shed a bit of light this one as I seemed to think that he had been involved with the process?

However I'm not particularly in any rush to see yet another estate agent go up. I'm sick and tired of ever building that becomes empty just ending up yet another restaurant / bar / hairdressers / or fast food shop.

The character of the Grove (I feel) is simply being striped away. And sadly being replaced with a kind of nothingness which in-turn invites strangers to shop in the area. It will eventually probably end up with a by-pass with a nothingness complex at the back of Sainsburys that will eat into more of our Green belt leaving the Grove like yet another Crown Point and the Grove just sitting neatly on the edge. Gone will be the village as it once was. Such a shame to have destroyed such a small village that had historical past for what another Crown point.

You've only got to look at SMO thread to see how many excellent shops we used to have in the Grove and - the variety. The little thriving businesses. No one moaned back then about shopping in the Grove, even with the heavy flow of traffic. These shops added something that turned the Grove into the community it used to be not like Sainsburys and ASDA that only breakdown and take away the community feel by adding their nothingness.

That is why area such as Marple don't want ASDA's opening up. Simply because they don't want to become a nothingness village/suburb they want to keep their community going. Their councillors fought to keep their village status and along with it their sense of community. Poor show to our councillor(s) who gave Sainsburys the go-ahead in the first place. It has proved to be the demise of the Grove. But look on the bright side it's brought more traffic to the Grove and it's somewhere for Marple residents to shop.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic but I've just sad to see the old building of such immense character being replaced with such cramp. What other old historical building are they next going to pull down next to build a pound store.

The grove inn was an empty crumbling ruin what was the alternative to pulling it down ?
I agree it's a mess just now but the building was unstable and
dangerous .
Asda took over the old co op ?
Hazel grove has a very busy major road running through it so although it may not be desirable I think it's inevitable it's going to go through a change of character .

I am currently away on holiday at the moment but happy for a face to face meet on my return.

We are currently battling Party Wall Agreements with SMBC and once this is sorted we will be progressing.

I should say I am a touch offended by the "trustworthy" comment. We have not purchased this to be left as open space nor an expensive car park. Lots of people with plans for Hazel Grove wanting it improved like us and me personally as a resident, yet it seems easier to post a comment about our integrity on a public forum when you could call me office as I have offered time and time again.

We are being led by our 3rd party advisors who suggest we are nearing the point of being able to send in the builders, but apparently this PW agreement is pretty important.

As I say I am away with family at present so sorry for a delayed response but feel free on Monday next week to call me on 01625 874 344 and talk to me about the development.

Perhaps we should have left the building in situ whilst waiting for the go ahead, but then I guess I would be replying to "its been set on fire again and someone has died this time" a whole different headache we did not want. So with the local "unwanted" attention we felt levelling it was best for all.

I can not respond to any other comments easily at present, so forgive the delay.

Regards Richard Pickford.

I can't help but read that and think you've had a marathon DVD watching week involving The League of Gentlemen and Hot Fuzz. I'm right aren't i? Sod it, let's get Hazel Groves name changed to Royston Vasey or Sandford?

Sorry Richard for perhaps being a tad bit hasty in my judgement of Snapes. I should have know better though simply because you're one of the few who do post regular updates. Will wait to hear more when you know more Richard.

As for the that particular pub needing to come down - yes it did because it had been let fall into such a state that it was an eyesore. Just not to sure how the council are going to view other historical public houses in the Grove once they remain empty for too long - such as the cock Inn - are they going to leave it for years and then decide to pull that one down as well.
