I think you have nailed the main issue to be honest. We had a window cleaner who literally just did the windows and left all the crap and filth on the cills. It was brought to their attention and they carried on doing a half arsed job so we got a new window cleaner.

Whilst what you say is a nice gesture, having worked around insurance involving plumbing/drains etc in the past it leaves you open to disputes. Maybe look at it as an 'upselling' thing and offer that service but offer a discount to long standing customers as you propose on the condition that they pay promptly? Just a thought?

Cheers Norma, as before all useful advice gratefully recieved, that thought did cross my mind where people could say I've broken they're guttering etc, I'm thinking if there's anything broken before I've touched the gutter I could make sure they've seen it first maybe and possibly take a pic on my phone as back up but I'm going to get an insurance of some sort as I'm wanting to do this whole thing properly not like these guys who turn up once and never come back!

I'd have a think about the gutter thing if I was you - some of the terraced properties have some scary high gutters with little or no ladder lean to em - I only say this as working round the grove doing gutters and such... some jobs are a nightmare! Not doing it anymore life is short enough! PS I paid £7 for my windows when on queens Rd.

Hi pal cheers for response, I know what you mean about some gutters, I do alot of property maintenance around Manchester and have to repair alot of the gutters or replace rotten old metal ones but the ones that sit on top of the brickwork right at the top are a right pain to replace being in a long solid piece and access to cutting them being a bitch lol!

To be honest glenandem you will be on a winner if you actually turn up when you're supposed to. I have lived on Overton Crescent for 23 years and I would be lucky if my windows have been cleaned that many times and all but one of those times would be when its raining so you couldn't tell if they had been done properly.
Window cleaning rounds seem just to be sold on without you knowing who Is cleaning your windows or lurking in your back garden while you're at work.
I actually personally asked the last window cleaner I saw on our road to add me on to his list for next time and that was before Christmas.... he's still not been.
So if you take off let me know and you've got your first customer

Hi Debbie, sorry to hear that!
I'm currently canvassing around the grove at the mo and seem to get the same response from quite a few people with a different cleaner or Somone who just stops cleaning there windows and disapears, but I think half the reason is the price when I give them a price I've had a few say ooh they only charged so much so I say that's probably why they didn't bother coming back lol
I reckon without seeing your home you'd be looking at £10 for the full house and that includes doors frames and sills, I went to a house today and must have just got there and the lady shown me that they just been and I couldn't believe all they'd done was clean the windows but squeegied the dirty water onto the bottom of the frame and sills, I said I'd do it for the same price which was a semi like yours and she gave me the work so I gave her sills a quick wipe down for her while I was there for no charge!
I know there's other cleaners possibly cheaper as per earlier in topic but I'm going with how long its taking me which is near 45 mins on a reasonable semi, maybe that's too long for some but I'm happy to take my time and get a nice job done plus I feel if I start charging too little I could end up in a situation where it's not worth it and don't want to let people down, if Somone can do it cheaper than they're welcome to it, I've even had a few that charge customers more but they won't employ me to clean they're windows as they're happy with the job the cleaner is doing for them which is fair enough if your happy and I'm not undercutting anybody I'm just charging what I feel is right for me!
Let me know if you'd like me to Bob round for a clean.
Regards glen

Glen, how about a head cam?

Then stream it as 'true confessions of a window cleaner' on a pay-per-view basis.
