If you were familiar with the amount of threads regarding this subject on this forum over the last couple of years, you'd be aware that due to the low wattage individuals who now frequent HG on a weekend evening that the police presence is a sadly predictable downstream effect of their presence.

Yes Iím familiar with the recent threads on this matter.
This was a targeted police presence in the grove, not a normal Sat night.
Iím out most weekends in the Grove and itís the first time I have seen this many police in a while.
I have never seen mounted police in the grove, never mind 4 of them

I was after an actual answer if anyone knew what had been going on not just a vague statement about past issues

It's the 'big wing' approach. Rather than dilute forces by spreading them across the area, I think the police are concentrating them at certain times.

I believe that the Woodman was raided last night, so maybe that was one of the reasons for the high Police presence, the last time the police had a high profile apart from the stabbing in the Jockey would have been in February!!!! Gangland retaliation comes to mind.

Spoeaking to a few people in the grove last night & were saying the strong prescence around the Bulls Head down to Zuri was because of Arran Coghlan ( the guy cleared of murdering his friend at his house in Alderley Edge)frequents the grove on a regular basis..There were five police outside the Bull when we went passed, searching people with metal detectors

The thing is though...this guy has a lot of history.

He's been cleared now 3 times of murder -
1996, cleared of killing Stockport 'enforcer' Chris Little
2003, cleared of leading the gang that tortured and killed David Barnshaw. He was dumped in the boot of the car and set alight.
2010, cleared of killing Stephen Akinyemi at Coghlan's house with a gun and knife involved. Akinyemi went to Coghlan's house wearing a bullet proof vest but a head shot killed him. History ????

What do you expect the police to do when someone like this is released from jail and drinks in the Grove??
