They will start in the school holidays I believe.
Not looking forward to it though.
Might be worth it in the long run though, real competition to Sainsbury I hope.
I think the pedestrian crossind at Grosvenor St/Vernon St will move so 1 set more 1 set less. A6 can`t be worse than now, or can it

I don't really have a problem with an asda coming to the grove, i suppose it's a local alternative to sainsburys, but i do wonder if there is enough local business for it!

If not it would have to attract custom from the surrounding area which will make an already very busy road even worse!

I have to say also that it worrys me what mess they will make of the new junction they will be building! Lets face it those who's job the planning will be have repeatedly proven their incompetence!

Can't see the point of ANOTHER supermarket when the Co-op can't make a go of this facility.

I would have thought this building with some conversion work could have been developed into the new medical centre and library facitity and any othe village centre facilities we would like to have to put community life back into the centre of the village. Adequate car park to support such a thing already there.

I guess it'll be a small/mid range Asda though. Mainly targetted at locals and people popping past who might need a few things. I can't see it attracting people from afar wanting a weekly shop. So I don't think we can directly compare it with Sainsburys.

I also think that most people that use the Co-op car park just use it as a base to explore the Grove and don't necessarily buy anything from the Co-op. It's always busy at the weekend, yet inside the store there's just the usual handful of old dears buying cat food. It'll be interesting if Asda make the car park customer only.

Is the post office staying then?

This will attract out of town traffic which will increase the burden on the A6 as well as the extra traffic travelling towards Waitrose in Poynton i imagine.
Oh and not to mention the people avoiding the bypass/going to the bypass.

Maybe Asda will give Sainsburys the kick up the backside that it needs.

I am hoping there is a method in all this traffic madness, maybe the planning guys at stockport are trying to make hazel grove into one big car park or maybe they are trying to make the A6 soooooooooo bad that we will have to have the bypass asap!!!
