Bypass
9th August 2006 at 6:19AM
I wonder what is the actual position over the bypass. Is it going ahead? I'm in favour of it, I think Hazel Grove really needs it to cut traffic.

The green party leafleted us the other day saying that the bypass would actually increase traffic then said there was a world conspiracy by big business to invade Iran and then said that the holocaust never happened. Actually they might not have said the last one, I can't remember, but the point is their arguments are backward and Hazel Grove would benefit from the bypass.

I also wonder what will happen with the bypass, but only time will tell.

The bypass is a real concern for me. i am seriously worried about the effects it will have on my self and my family. how long has this bypass been in the 'planning stage' for now? its just dragging on far to long, and the time it will take to construct, and the construction its self will be an unacceptable inconvenience for many people. i strongly agree with the green party, all this bypass will do is add more traffic to our already congested streets, just look at the effects sainsburys brought to our once lovely village. am glad theirs a party that are listening to the local residents and not putting big corporations first.

The government minister has made promises (pie crust) that she will definately, possibly, maybe, could well announce the decision for the by-pass in the summer,I think she meant autumn (October0 but then again she did promise to tell us in spring (June) That is summer to any one else. But at least we will know shortly.

As a resident who's garden backs on to the proposed route I am interested in what is happening but the plans were on record when we moved in over 30 yrs ago and I assume we will have moved out before a decision is made
? in industry decisions are made in real time ?

I haven`t heard anything positive yet but the stop the road lobby is trying to buid up resistance. Reality is we need this by-pass years ago. It is contrary to other opinion the most important thing to the people of Hazel Grove. We could then widen the pavements and shopping could once again be a pleasure instead of russian roulette.

As I thought the minister has put the decision back once again. They now say we will know this year. They omitted to name the year. You can learn more by visiting the SEMMS web site

Thank you Kevin for keeping us informed.

Surely they cant keep putting this bypass off, take last week for example, they unexpectedly closed Commercial Road off and the extra traffic on the A6 was outrageous.

We had to drive all the way to the Bulls Head to get home, and a lot of people use Commercial road, so there was a lot more traffic than normal going further down the A6 than it normally would.

On Friday i couldn't get across the A6 in my car from the civic hall to vine street, both sides of the road were practically motionless.

Surely the bypass can only do good, and as Kevin said, once we get it, Hazel Grove can be a more pleasant please again.

i am in favour of the bypass. It has been on the plans since before I can remember so i I have come to accept that it will never actually happen and that Hazel grove will remain a giant traffic jam forever.

Really though, what is wrong with the people who make decisions round here. They cant get the bypass and they rejected a Weatherspoons when a pub like that would higher standards compared to the dumps we have at the moment. These planners are out of touch.

The planners can only do what the Government allow under their rules or did you think it was the Town Hall that decided ring me on 456 4936 and I`ll give you chapter and verse after all I am the chair of Planning. You can always ask here if you are shy.
