The Valley

The valley part of Hazel Grove always gets a lot of stick, but I don't think its that bad at all. I mean, I live nearby and I have never experienced any trouble there.

i agree the valley has always given hazel grove a bad name, but look around and you will see all areas of hazel grove are the same now due to people being moved in from shall we say "rough areas",dragging hazel grove down to their level. its just not the same any more !!

Hi,lived in the grove for years, the valley was always regarded as one of the rough areas but some lovely friendly people lived in it,it wasnt any rougher than anywhere else it was full of working class people who enjoyed life and got on with it,ive been away for 16yrs but still keep in touch with friends from the valley, long may it continue.

I am a what they call a 'Grover' born & bred here. The valley has always been the less affluent area of the Grove. Since the hoodie phenomenon i have noticed more and more hanging around the shops down there. Why dont parents discipline the little scrotes. Look at Torkington park gang, these idiots have discraced our good area on national TV (ITV's GMTV).

I was born in Hazel Grove longer ago than I can remember, and I don't remember anywhere called 'the valley'. This isn't the place with the stream running theough it that I used to know as 'Happy Valley' is it?

The vally is at the bottom of commerical road, where it becomes Hazelwood Road.

I live right near the valley and when I was younger the valley was never as bad as it has been over the last 8 or so years. Although whenever I have driven past recently I have not seen any trouble or any "scrotes" hanging around.

Happy Valley is in Bramhall. The Valley was partly where the old mills used to be. Remember Clarendon Road, Garthland Road, Deneside Crescent (West estate)?   You could get to the Valley down Commercial Road, or from Torkington Lane, going past what was Green's Farm, and following the footpath through the fields to the old part of Hazelwood Road. Farm and fields long gone.

my memories of the valley are of it being quite nice during the day and worse at night. Anyone remember Pat and Brians? that was a really nice local shop. There was always too much graffiti on those posts, and some of the shops always seemed closed.
