So did the fairground never come to "somewhere in Manchester?"  Never won a goldfish, never tasted candy floss, never lost your cash as it span out of your pockets on the waltzers? You really did have a hard childhood. Brings a tear...............

I went along with my youngest son last year, some 33 years after i first went myself as a youngster. I love the sounds and atmosphere of a fair, Im not afraid to say. yer the rides arent up to much as an adult but the kids still love it - i love rollercoasters but i can't imagine ever seeing one at torky fair. I still think the Wild Mouse at Blackpool is brilliant - the element of risk created by the close proximity of your teeth to the back of your riding partners head keeps you on your toes.

The only problem with torky fair is that some of the sounds havent changed since my early visits, while waiting for my go on the waltzers i had to endure Gloria Gaynor's I will Survive (poignant really). At least it was followed by The Lambretta's Poison Ivy

Deano! What's with the gypo remark, all the people at torky fair are pretty much local, I think the furthest one away from here lives in Denton and they don't much care for being labelled gypo's in the same way you don't like being called a chav.
