There are four parts to Staircase House:
the House;
Stockport Story galleries;
the Tourist Information Centre; and
Balckshaws cafe.

The House costs 3.75. It is a lot larger than it appears from outside. It requires about 1.5 hours to do the full audio tour. I think it is fantastic. It takes you from 15th Century to 20th Century.

The Stockport Story Galleries are free. There are only two galleries open at the moment, with more to open in October and the whole thing next year. What there is very interesting. It shows the Mellor Dig and the old market. Allow about half an hour for the two galleries.

TIC is worth a visit in itself to learn about other places to visit in the area and you get to see one of the original 540 year old cruck frames.

Finally, Blackshaw's cafe is worth a visit.

While you are in the area, don't forget to visit the free Heritage Centre in St Mary's church, open on Market Days.
