Elderly woman robbed in her own home

Sorry if this has already been posted but I couldn't see anything:

An 83-year-old woman was robbed in her own home in Stockport.

At around 3am on Friday 8 June 2012, the victim was asleep in her house on Torkington Road, Hazel Grove when a man forced the door and walked inside.

He woke the elderly woman up, who was asleep in the lounge, and demanded she handed over her valuables, threatening her with violence.

The man then forced the victim into rooms within the house so she could identify property to him to steal before he found her purse, taking money from it.

As he left, the offender ripped the phone from its socket.

He is described as being white, in his 30s and wore dark clothing with a hooded jacket.

Detective Constable Neil Hewitt from Stockport CID said: “This was a despicable robbery on a frail, defenceless and vulnerable member of our community

“The man told the victim that if she did not hand over any valuables, there were men outside who would hurt her. Obviously, the lady was left terrified after this threat and did not know what would happen to her.

"Whilst incidents of this type are quite rare in Stockport, it is vitally important that this offender is identified and arrested as quickly as possible, thereby preventing any other victims from suffering a similar ordeal. I would ask anyone who has any information to contact police as soon as possible.”
