Traffic Jams - Poynton way...

Just nicked this info from the other forum. If you go to Poynton or beyond, it might be a useful 'heads-up':-

Work on Phase 2 Fountain Place will start on Monday 13th June 2011 although the first ten days will not be too intrusive as the new Contractor, P Casey, will undertake site establishment, review of existing underground services and trial holes.

The major impact will start with the introduction of temporary three way traffic signals at the junction with the exit from Park Lane Closed. A signed diversion route, the same as Phase 1, will include Park Lane, Clumber Road, Dickens Lane and London Road South. Delays and disruption will be kept to a minimum throughout the works

The works will be constructed starting June 13th 2011 and ending of November 2011 in time for the Christmas Period.

Thanks for the up-date dear, she who must be obeyed has hinted at going to Poynton in the near future.

Thats interesting, there is as much if not more work involved there as there is/was in Asda's junction, so lets see how long it actually takes them!

By Asda work standards it might be done in time for the Olympics if they are lucky!

Yes but the difference with East Cheshire is people have been involved and so its I think all with agreement. Unlike ASDA which was just a mega store doing what IT wanted to do, beggar the rest of us.

beats me how many of you actually read these posts properly.

ASDA were prevented from completing their junction by the Council trying to keep the A6 running, just wait till August when they shut it

They also got to pay a million to BT to move/strengthen their junction box, under the A6 somwhere in the middle.
Collapsing already but get ASDA to pay for renewal. Wait while that happens

Good link for information. Also, have a look at Poynton Town Council website.

Phase 2 is not roundabouts. It comprises two 'rotaries'. The principle is basically to take a 'creep & peep' approach to using the junction. (Bit like when the traffic lights are out of order and everyone approaches the junction with masses more care and attention, the traffic keeps moving, everyone happy!)
