I think the bypass is well overdue. I am absolutely sick to death of it taking 20 minutes to drive from Chapel Street to Sainsbury's. There are far too many sets of traffic lights through the Grove and it is one of the worst parts of the A6.

The sooner Hazel Grove is pedestrianised the better. It will become a nicer place to shop and hopefully bring the shoppers back, and maybe some of the old traditional shops may come back too, lets see more greengrocers, bakerys and tea/coffee shops like Marple still has, such a nicer place to shop.

I called the SEMMMS update line today just to see if there was any further news. The long, tall and short of it is no there is no further news yet.

The Council are supposed to be informed this month of the date that the Department of Transport are intending to make a decision by!

It would be almost amusing if the bypass wasn't so desparately needed.

We have a new, new well another date to break, anyway its March, hooray that is if, no, when it`s put back again. Crying in my beer doesn`t help but on the bright side it does unlike the bypass make it go further

The decision is once again put back until March when we are promised an answer. Remember pie crust and promises, don`t hold your breath neither of the 2 main parties seem to give a damn about us so it goes on.

I have read your posted messages and how nice it would be to have nice shops etc etc. However I have young children and will not walk down the A6 for safety. Not only the fear of lorries tearing past us, but having an asthmatic child the exhaust fumes. Hazel grove has one of the highest pollution problems for pedestrians.

If we lived in Wilmslow, Bramhall etc a by-pass "no problem", how long did they have to wait?

Those people who do not want the by-pass obviously dont spend time having to drive to work or spend time walking down the A6.

Hazel Grove desperately needs the bypass as the A6 has gradually caused people to stop walking along there and eventually helped cause the closure of the shops, i agree that the ideal would be something similar to marple but it doesnt look like there is anything viable. realistically what does the future of hazel grove hold, is the situation just going to get worse? is it going to become a ghost town along the A6, the only new shops are wine bars and they are closed all day aswell!

i agree with jenny- seems like the people in charge arent the real people who live every day here, they dont have any idea wat its like to live without a car and to rely on the buses- walking near the a6 is stressful just gives me headache

As I've said before, the bypass is a terrible idea.

All we'll have is two roads that are clogged up and polluting the environment. I think the money spent on the bypass would be spent better on public transport. I also feel we should all be using public transport more rather than all driving alone in our cars, its a disgrace.

I would much profer to have the tram system from Manchester extended to Stockport and if possible Hazel Grove

Well as I said pie crusts and all that. It`s back again to June, after the local election should we read anything into that.
