Hi guest! That's exactly what I thought why ruin a few more fields and also disrupt even more homeowners when everything could be just placed on a roundabout at Simpsons rather than go straight across the field put a t junction in with lights that will cause conjestion?
Cllr Hogg thanks for getting back what you described is exactly the route I was shown which goes behind my house and jim McMahon also said that to me about possible raising bollards to stop general traffic on the current a6 and only allow buses through I'm personally not convinced this would happen though and keep envisioning two rds full of traffic in front and behind my house with a big mound right behind my house as jim McMahon put it to stop traffic noise, good for the noise but I don't really fancy looking at a big hill outside or fencing at that!
To the other guy asking what percentage it will happen, I asked jim the same question and he said more than 50% but I personally think with all the traffic causing measures around hazel grove and especially poynton they are really pushing for it, I went to the vernon arms today for a meal and always go down Chester rd to avoid the traffic and couldn't believe how much traffic is cutting poynton out by using these other routes and I can only see a bypass bringing more traffic especially from people coming from further areas but who knows I'm sure the government has spent loads on consultation!!!

Want to know all there is to know about the bypass?

Come to the High Lane Residents Association meeting at 8pm on Thursday the 5th of April at High Lane Library. We will be having the Hazel Grove MP Mr Andrew Stunnel there to answer public questions about it.

Over the last couple of days they (DfT) have been doing traffic surveys around the area - A34 roundabout near NEXT etc, Woodford roundabout, end of Chester Rd etc. BUT we've been here before and I can't see it being built 'cos we are too far North of Marble Arch.

Hi Helen thanks for that info, think I'll definately be there, can I ask how high lane residents have arranged and a meeting and has hazel grove ever had any and also what impact do u think it will have on high lane if it goes ahead??
I don't know if it's true maybe a cllr can tell us but I seem to remember the planning officer saying to me they are waiting for the budget to be announced next week, would the bypass be in the budget that's going to be announced next week, can't wait to see what the fuel prices go to but that's anouther story!!

Hi Glen, we have regular meetings with our community and our councillors, this is just an extension of that. We have a whole dossier on the bypass, I expect copies will be available on the night.

In answer to your question about the impact on High Lane: There are a number of opposing views, on the one hand this will speed up traffic leaving the village and hopefully prevent our notorious queues on the other hand it will encourage the use of the Chesterfield / Baslow / Peak-Forrest route as a trans-Pennine route which could produce a devastating increase in traffic through the village.

Seen in the news today the government is looking at privatising roads and possible toll roads on new ones built, does any cllrs know if the new bypass section could be funded this way or be made into a possible toll road?
Just when you think the government take enough from us drivers on road tax and fuel duty they want to bring private companies in to charge for using roads!!

As 'boy wonder' has only just announced the initiative it will be months before there is any detail to it let alone details of which roads it will affect.

If they do put a toll on it it will just end up being a white elephant that can be used when time is against you - just like the loss making M6 Toll

Just reading today's men news about the bypass given the go ahead and they want to call it the queen Elizabeth 2 way if they're allowed!
So if it's been given the go ahead, can any cllrs please tell us what happens now, when will affected residents be receiving any letters etc about consultation and compensation!
At least I'll get a few quid out of it if it's going to affect me, I've heard residents affected by Alderney edge bypass was given around 30k on average!
Ps anyone going to the high lane meeting on the 5th April?

Lets not get too excited yet. The meeting with Andrew Stunell MP is a bit premature as the final details of the road are still being planned. The junction at Simpsons cannot be a roundabout or traffic lights on the A6 as the new road must cross the railway next to it and as it is at the same level and pretty close the road isplanned to go under it. Network rail want the road to go over but that results in major problems behind Old Mill Lane and Norbury Hollow. So t he junction has to be set back into the fields.

It was announced in the Budget, so the final funding is now completed
Glen
Residents will be consulted around September this year when the planning application is submitted. Before that it would be a waste of time as nothing is as yet finally agreed and could be changed.

No it will not be a Toll Rd as the funding is in place already

Can we refer to this new road as the 'airport link road' which it is as it is not the bypass which was an inspiration from the 50's and will probably never be built or at least never in my lifetime (hopefully thats a long time)
