Norbury Bell Ringers is a Club in..

Hazel Grove

The sound of church bells is something pretty unique to the United Kingdom by the nature of how the bells are rung. There are a few towers overseas, however the majority of the 8000 or so towers are here. Norbury church has a peal of 8 bells, hung for full-circle ringing, tuned in the key of F#.

The Parish Church of St Thomas', Norbury, is in the town of Hazel Grove, just a couple of miles south of Stockport and is situated next to the junction of the A6 and the A523 major roads in Hazel Grove (just near the Rising Sun public house).

We have a team of ringers and we ring the bells for Sunday service, for weddings as well as for our practice night on a Thursday evening.

As a group, we are a wide range of ages from 11-75 with everything in between. We ring a range of methods from simple to difficult.

Whether you are a proficient bell ringer, have learned in the past and are interested in joining in again or a complete novice, we welcome you to come and join us.

We can teach beginners and providing you are in good health and over about 11 years old you should be able to learn a very traditional skill.

We practice on a Thursday evening between 8pm-9.30pm and ring for Sunday morning service at 9.45am-10.15am. We do ring for Evensong periodically but this is usually done by prior agreement and is currently not a regular occurrence.
