MAELR (Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road)
or
A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road

Cllrs, please stop calling it the "Hazel Grove Bypass", it is not.

I call it the bypass because thats what it is or was calloed loong before being MAELR. That name came about when it was resurrected again in the late 90s after another cancellation by tony blairs new labour I think

As this is currently named the "A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road" and is not a bypass of Hazel Grove, may I suggest we dont refer to it as the "Hazel Grove bypass" or any other names used over ten years ago.

Well Councillor Hogg, you'd better get your party's wrag paper that came through my letter box last week sorted. To quote it........

" Lib Dem Bypass Success
The next step is underway on the Hazel Grove Bypass - ....
Its a massive win for Lib Dem Local Champion Kevin Hogg......"

And you picture is plastered all over this copy of Keeping In Touch.

Either I can't read cos it says Hazel Grove Bypass in association with you. Perhaps you need to talk to SK6 4YD about mis-leading.

To refer to it as 'Hazel grove bypass' is misleading i must admit since the current plan is the complete opposite of a 'Hazel grove bypass'!

Maybe we should call it 'short cut to the airport, for anyone willing to dive through Hazel grove' which to me seems a more accurate name!

You are all missing the points I made about traffic coming from both Cheshire and Derbyshire trying to access the M60 Westbound. According to surveys that is around 30% of the total traffic during peak periods. It is intended that this traffic will divert past Hazel Grove and go via the new Road to the M56 and the M60 or M6. Thus by-passing Hazel Grove. I.E. Hazel Grove By-Pass

Hi cllr, won't all this possible extra traffic cause a back log through hazel grove though around the rising sun area even more so than now?
If there's going to be a t junction traffic light system(yes anouther set of lights) at the end of the by pass joining the a6 this will further hinder the traffic coming through hazel grove to high lane and also to get onto the bypass?
Why not fit a roundabout at least like most other bypasses that end with a roundabout at least traffic might flow a little better than lights, doesn't the new bypass at Alderley edge have a roundabout at both ends???

There is no splitting hairs at all! Your keeping in touch flyer was, as well you know, extremely misleading and for that reason I could not possibly vote Lib Dem (or anyone else who publishes that kind of prevaricating nonsense).
