Timber framed houses back of Nelson street

Does anyone know the history of the timber framed houses at the back of Nelson Street off Commercial Road?
                                Thanks

I have no idea of what buildings you're refering to I am afraid. I assume you mean some olde style cruck frame/wattle and daub place?

I've just checked the National Heritage site and nothing is listed for 'Nelson Street' in this area. Hazel Grove only brings up 10 matches (some not in Hazel Grove) and I know that's wrong as the thatched cottage on Chester Road dating back to circa 1450 doesn't come up for whatever reason.

I may have another look at work tomorrow as I'm on a phone currently.

You could do an aerial search on the Land Registry site for £3 and get a copy of the title deeds.

No, the buildings on Nelson Street are listed but nothing else in the vacinity is.

Long Terrace, 3-49 Nelson Street

I think I remember Kevin Hogg saying his Missus used to live in one of those houses when she was a little girl. Maybe he can shed (see what I did there?) some light on it?

If it's Nelson Street, should you not be keeping an eye on it?

I'd give my right arm to know how much time you spent on finding a way to work that into this thread! wink

I was told by my parents those bungalows at the back of Nelson St (Long Row), were built for the foremen that worked at Wellington Mill.

Hmmmm, dilemma.

Do you try to break it down with the bog brush or do you wait for the cistern to refill then try the chain again?

Choices, choices...
