Parking on Douglas Road
2nd March 2016 at 3:39PM
I had read somewhere that parking on Douglas Road was due to be limited by use of residents permits and double yellow lines on the Tennis Club side. I wonder if one of our councillors could comment.

It is certainly getting out of hand with poor parking on both sides through the working week by staff members of one of Hazel groves flourishing businesses who clearly need more parking than they have ... their lanyards give the name of the company away. At times a fire engine would only get through by clipping of wing mirrors on both sides!

What worries me is where they go next, although perhaps there is a deal to be made with the bus company that owns the white elephant site near the rising sun ...

See http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=2256
The current double yellow lines at the junction had no legal backing so this has been put in place. Aditionally, they are to be extended along Douglas Rd - 10m on one side and 25m on the other (though the text and the accompanying map seem to disagree which side is which, to my reading of it). The original plans (permit parking, limited waiting, etc.) seem to have been scrapped due to mixed responses in the consultation.

Goggins - it hasn't been scrapped fully (the permit parking) just postponed until after we have implemented the more necessary aspects that you correctly outlined.

We will look at it again once the priority work has been done.

Which 'flourishing' business are you alluding to?

Can I second guess that it's those opposite the conservative club on the 1 way street?
