While sat in the traffic at the rising Sun yesterday evening I noticed a few cars using the park and ride car park as a cut through cutting out the rising Sun junction! It has its uses after all

It's a great cut through to avoid rising sun I've found, maybe they'll put some more traffic lights in the middle to slow people passing through it!!!!

Still no signs.

I wonder if our delightful council actually care about reducing traffic?

Oliver, I presume this is one of your top priorities given that congestion is one of the worst problems in Hazel Grove? Why have we not seen any progress on this?

Jenny I heard that they were waiting for the car park to be fully completed. Well that's happened now but nothing changed. Even the adverts have stopped. It seems like such a waste of valuable space.

Sorry Jenny only just seen your post.

Yes absolutely and unequivocally.

Sadly, I cannot count on planning legislation as my ally.

I'm not sure what the planning legislation had to do with it Oliver. Is it because the planning was granted by the council with the promise that the company would reduce traffic on the A6. If that's the case Oliver you would think that the council would now be looking for some positive results.

Now that being said unless the local council and local businesses get behind the scheme and promote it properly then it will never work. This is were the council could and should be making a difference and fully supporting the scheme, otherwise it will never work.

What about a free shuttle bus to and from the hospital Oliver similar to the one used at Stockport. It's a start and it will reduce traffic.

I was referring to the general question of congestion and traffic, not just the park and ride.

Yep - it makes sense to me but it's up to Stagecoach and TfGM. I have mentioned it to our representative on TfGM but the meetings are infrequent I believe.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I fully admit that I may be wrong on this) - but general road signs don't need planning permission?

Some signs will need appropriate traffic orders to back them up, but direction signs do not need this.
