London Road Resurfacing 25th April

Hi All

From Monday 25th April, work will be commencing to patch and resurface the section of London Road from Torkington Road to Chester Road junctions.

As this is an extremely busy section of carriageway, the Council have proposed to do this work between the hours of 19:30 and 05:30 for 3 weeks. There will be temporary traffic lights in place on London Road BUT turning right from Torkington Road onto London Road will be prohibited.

I have naturally raised concerns about noise and the like that would affect residents close by on London Road, School Street etc. The Council have agreed that the pneumatic breaker will not be used after 11pm and works near properties will be kept to a minimum, using smaller equipment where applicable.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know.

The road on this section is in a pretty poor state. The residents locally may have to put up with a bit of noise while the work is going on but having recently worked in an office near this area, the noise created throughout the day by lorries hitting potholes, sunken grids etc is bloody awful so I would imagine they will be just happy to see things being sorted

If there is any of the black stuff left over, the stretch of Chester Road near the Conservative Club is a disgrace.

Hope they resurface the part of the rd right at rising sun lights heading up high lane just before the park turning, there's a few pot holes there too!
Wasn't the a6 resurfaced when there was a massive burst water main near mcds not so long ago?

Hi Glen - unfortunately due to the way that the Council has decided to arrange its programme of resurfacing works, Hazel Grove will not yet receive it's full entitlement to the Highways Investment Plan until after 2020.

However we are still fighting for resurfacing as witnessed with Cavendish, Poise Close and Torkington etc.

Yes there have been utility issues in this stretch and part of work will be to replace alot of the old ironwork that is down there in order to avoid such repeat incidents. The surface being laid in conjunction with the removal of the ironwork should go some way to reducing noise and vibration too.

I live on poise close and our road was resurfaced a few weeks back. I have lived here for 44 years and this is the first resurfacing we have had, it was long over due. Looks great now 😊

Is this still on target to be done within 3 weeks?
They don't seem to have got very far and they seemed to have packed up and gone home by 11:20 last night.
