Hazel Grove Carnival
7th July 2006 at 4:48PM, Edit: 7th July 2006 at 5:42PM by DrGill
ah thank you for posting the dates for the carnival, i wasnt sure when it was.

also that map showing the route is really good, i always wondered where it started.

anyway on with the post.....
.......what do you all think of the carnival? i feel its been sliding these past few years, as when i was younger it used to have alot more floats than it does now, which is a real shame as its not as impressive as it was in my youth.

i dont think i really used to go to the fair (not the one with the rides thats just gone, the one after the carnival) so am not sure if thats deteriorated or not. but i will be going to check it out this year.

i'll post back with my opinions of the state of the carnival when i get back from it, hopefully it'll be nice and hot like the past couple of days.

i have to disagree with you. i cant remember how many trucks was their but you have to admit, it was alot better than previous years, which were becoming "Blick and you miss it"... am sure this years was 2 or even 3 times bigger than last year, given it felt like some car's were pure advertising (like Imagine FM) i felt it was an improvement on the last few years.

and the fair was nice too. though it felt crouded i think that was quite good as it shows their was a nice high turn out this year.

i have to admit, i did enjoy my self to day, and i hope others did too. and i have to thank the organisers for a nice day.
on a side note - am glad the weather was nice... though rather hot, its better than if it rained.

What was other peoples impressions of this years carnival?

Well I thought the fair was pretty good, my kids enjoyed it but I again was disappointed by the carnival parade. It could be so much better, some people just didnt put in any effort like the imagine fm car. Just turn up in their car and drive in the carnival, looks bad and wastes everyones time. They could develop rules whereby you have minumum standards for vehicles decorations levels.

If some people didn`t or won`t take the time to give something back then I find them sad. I stood on the carnival fields (Torkington Park ) From 9;30 until after 5-30 and saw hundreds of Grovers enjoying the day. So if you find it sad or no good join in change it and make it better. Where were all the pubs floats. Robbies brewery horses, Local firms etc. Come on jump in the water is fine. We are at least as good as Macclesfield but without peoples support? Well you get out what you put in. Come on the Grove you can do better.
