What I don't understand Mozza is that you're quite happy to say "don't listen to Conservative rhetoric about balancing the books" but you come back with torrents of nonsense about the old boys club etc.

It's thanks to this and the Coalition government that people can now keep more of their own money. To then say we cannot amend the tax credit system because someone may receive less money than they do now is illogical. Using that rule, we would only ever be increasing state benefits or maintaining them.

Bottom line - it will only take tax credit spending to 2008 levels so hardly the radical measure that so many proclaim it to be.

You've picked up on a couple of sound bites there Oliver. That's OK, we're getting used to it.
Not "torrents" about the old boys club. I hardly mentioned it. Though when I see them there guffawing at jokes about taking desperate children into the country, I am put in mind of those lovely Bullingdon club photos, where they may have been allegedly sticking their public school unmentionables into farmyard animals.

They did mention balancing the books a lot though. And whilst that's admirable, they are picking on the wrong people. They are making good people skint. That's how the Conservatives are.
They're also good at rhetoric. All that rubbish at the last election, of Cameron pulling out his bit of paper that said "there's no money left". It's now been shown, through most of the respected finance consultants, that that was a world wide phenomenon, and not caused by Tony Blair (who followed a right wing way of government anyway, to be honest)

But mainly, it rankles that those lot, those guffawing idiots today that were shouting and neighing in the houses of parliament today at a guy trying to bring up a Save the Children request for help, are running our country like they care.

If a family hard working or not, what a terrible acronym earns £1000 amonth and is topped up by£750 of tax credits that is an income of £1750 per month. They then raise the income tax allowance level to £12000 pounds it makes no difference to said family as they already are below the tax allowance level but w hen you cut the tax credits by the increase in tax allowance said family is £2000 worse off.
Figures are for illustration only.
The tories say you will pay less tax and your min wage will go up but many families are already on the new level they will not recieve an increase in pay, but will get reduced tax credits therefore a lower income.
Its difficult to put into words but increasing tax allowance levels for those the don't earn enough to pay them now is useless and then to take away their tax credits is criminal. The independant non political organisation says that 3,500families will be a lot worse off. Do the tories care, do they hell

It's not just about the drop in wages Kevin. But what will motivate people to want to work in these low paid jobs once these changes start to take hold. People will probably think that they'll be better off on the dole.

It's such a shame as it's obvious that most people don't want to spend a lifetime living on the dole and are willing to work for a low income (with the support of the tax credit as a top up), but now will unfortunately find themselves much worse off.

It's a very sad state of affairs and it doesn't send a positive message that says that we support people who want to work, just the opposite.

Most people have strong sound work ethics and want to work, otherwise why would they take low income jobs in the first place, but I'm sure that once the money in their pockets go down that they might be tempted to say sod it and join the dole. So the government will end up paying out anyway, probably more - seems daft.

I agree that firms should be made to put wages up to a decent living wage for everyone. Then no one would feel that they had to go in hand.

And its not just these tax credit cuts that disgust me.
Breaking the will of junior doctors.
Cutting funding to mental health and special care units.
Cutting police spending.
Making it hard for students to get to university..even we're struggling to send our child, and we both have reasonable jobs.
Nationalising banks and bailing out bankers but not giving a flying frig about steel workers, etc.
Spending billions on a nuclear system that we'll never use, but not supporting soldiers when they need it.

We're not all in it together...just the poor and the working class are in this..

THAT'S what's disgusting.

Consider the alternatives back in May, and indeed now, which is why the Conservatives have the most seats in parliament and against what most people expected a majority to boot!

That would be fantastic and clearly ideal ... however, just how do small businesses afford to do that when most a close to going under based on current wage levels.
