Alderley Edge By-Pass

Does anyone know, or have views as to why the Alderley Edge By-Pass was built when other similar schemes serving Poynton, Bramhall and Hazel Grove look no nearer being built than they were many many years ago?

The constituency of Tatton comprises parts of Cheshire which are affected by this bypass. The MP for Tatton is George Osborne - Chancellor of the Exchequer. At the end of the day he is standing up for his constituents and using his influence to deliver for them. We too have an MP in government but apparently we are yet to see the fruits of his appointment in terms of greater influence for Hazel Grove.

Would closing Torky Tip count? Errrr.... no of course not, I'm forgetting about the conveniently sporadic influence some ‘political types’ have from time to time.

Interesting replies.

Does anyone know (or point me in the right direction for information) how many vehicles pass along the A6 through Hazel Grove each day/week?

please understand folks the hazel grove bypass will never happen ! it has been planned 30 years but now the route is to built up to build it.the alderly edge bypass has been built over mainly open ground.look at the route proposed you could never re home all the people that are in the path.it really is a none starter now.

Waste collection & disposal is within the remit of local authorities - so SMBC - not Andrew Stunell. I am sure you could write to him about it but considering the Council is run by his political allies, I would be very surprised if it made much difference.

You may find something on the Council website about levels of traffic on the A6 - other than that Cllr Hogg may be able to point you in the right direction. Will let you know if I find anything for you myself.
