It's text-speak - spelling is out, abbreviations are in!

Nice to know that there's apparently at least one other person in the Grove who, like me, hasn't felt the need to buy a mobile phone! lol

Yes, yes guest, that must be it. You must have touched a nerve with me. Oh, poor me. How can I possibly compete and outwit someone as intellectual and well versed in the correct use of the English language as you?

Oh dearie, dearie me...

I am merely advising them to go in with eyes wide open the plusses and minuses are there for the governers to see.

I have to say I'd be nervous of HGHS becoming an academy. I don't know much about the ins and outs of how it affects a school or the education of kids, but 2 points that worry me...

1. The only other Academy I know of in Stockport is the (ex-Avondale) Stockport Academy which is one of the lower performing schools in Stockport, despite the millions spent on its lovely new buildings! I'm sure I read recently that exam results are starting to improve but still significantly lower than other schools.

2. While its nice to think of the ideal education system where there is freedom to learn in different ways and without the constraints of a set curriculum, unfortunately in this country we have made education about passing exams. So for kids to achieve within the current system they need to be taught very closely to the curriculum. I'd want to know that was going to still happen if my child was going there, so that the freedom to do things differently didn't impact their exam performance.

I'd want to know an awful lot more about how things were going to change.
