FIREFIGHTERS rescued a donkey
FIREFIGHTERS rescued a donkey after it became trapped in a muddy field.

Chocolate, a 26-year-old jenny, was stuck up to her middle in a boggy pit in Somerfield, Congleton.

Crews from Congleton and an Animal Rescue Unit from Bollington attached straps to Chocolate to pull her to safety.

Mobile incident command officer Ian Pugh said: "The straps and harnesses ensured this donkey was rescued in the safest possible way by firefighters who are trained to deal with this type of situation.

"The crews worked tirelessly for two hours to complete the rescue and ensure that Chocolate made a full recovery. Their professionalism was exceptional."

Chocolate was immediately reunited with her owner Joy Young, full story here
